Summary of presentation

It goes without saying globalization is a high-priority issue for Japanese companies.
Specifically, the lack of global human resources is blocking the way for globalization. Therefore, many companies are starting to expand their global resources by frantically recruiting foreigners and training to develop global human resources.
However, companies are solely focused on human resource development and lack the perspective of “developing a global organization.” Consequently, foreign workers are quitting or unable to excel, and the training programs executed are ineffective.
Global organizational development is “to construct healthy and strong organization in a global context.” Unfortunately, there are many organizations without health or strength, even the Japanese companies with long experience in overseas operation.
Organization development, necessary in a healthy and strong organization, is not sufficiently conducted at domestic organizations. Therefore, if one attempts to globalize and make a global organization without working domestically first, adverse effects come back bigger, having effects on a larger scale. It does not mean organization development practices and efforts differ in where they are executed in principle; however, the complexity of CSP (cultural/structural/physical) makes the global setting more difficult.
