Encouraged by our successful conference in 2013 in Nagoya, we have decided to host ODNJ’s first international conference in Japan. The 3rd conference will be held in Tokyo, and we look forward to meeting you at our conference. Conference details are as follows:
Keynote Speech
Day 1 (30th, August)
Diana Whitney
The field of Organization Development is a powerful influence in changing the nature of organizations and the way people work. Over the past 65 years since the term Organization Development was first used in 1950 organization structures have changed from hierarchies to networks; leadership practices have changed from bureaucratic to participatory; and the role of employees has changed from cogs in the wheel of commerce to people with strengths and valuable ideas to contribute.
During this time the field of Organization Development has also changed significantly. In her opening keynote speech, Dr. Diana Whitney will talk about where OD has been and where it is going. She will describe the new directions in the field of OD and what we all need to know to continue helping people and organizations be their best.
Day2 (31st, August)

In this session, we will discuss the origins, present and future of the organization development, livestreaming across the ocean between the U.S. and Japan. From the U.S., Dr. Edgar Schein, who has left historical achievements in many areas of organization development in the areas of career development, process consultation, and organization culture, will give a presentation. ODNJ Committee President, Dr. Toshihiro Kanai, one of Dr. Schein’s favorite pupils, will reflect on his presentation and lead our discussion from Japan.
